Theoretical Study on Dual-Function Optical Phased Array of LiDAR and Optical Wireless Communication Based on Optically Injection-Locked Semiconductor Lasers

Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) optical wireless communication (OWC) are in high demand rapidly developing owing to the explosive growth of smart systems that require automotive mobile devices. Optical phased arrays (OPA) have become a key technology LiDAR OWC their nonmechanical beam steering capabilities. However, using separate platforms one system creates problems, such as spectrum congestion, resource consumption, complexity. We propose dual-function OPA enables function on single platform based simultaneous amplitude phase modulation optically injection-locked semiconductor lasers. numerically demonstrated primary secondary simultaneously by independent control main side lobes signal. The variation lobe levels is controlled at 20 or 25 dB realize low- high-level data for well maintaining function. successfully achieved wide-opening eye patterns 10 Gbps transmission operation.
